Service Policy: Alterations & Tailoring 1. Fittings & Accuracy To ensure the perfect fit, customers must bring the exact shoes and undergarments (bra, shapewear) intended to be worn with the garment. The Altered Thread is not responsible for hem length or fit discrepancies caused by wearing different shoes or undergarments after the initial pinning. 2. Pricing & Payment Estimates: Prices listed online are starting rates. Final costs depend on fabric type (e.g., sequins, leather, chiffon), construction complexity, and layers. Standard Orders: Payment is due in full at the time of drop-off. Bridal & Formal: Projects estimated over $200 require a 50% non-refundable deposit to begin work. The remaining balance is due at the final fitting before the garment leaves the shop. Rush Fees: Orders requiring a turnaround of less than 5 days are subject to a 20–50% Rush Fee. 3. Satisfaction Guarantee We strongly encourage customers to try on garments upon pickup. Corrections: Any adjustments needed based on the original pinning/plan will be corrected at no charge. New Changes: If you change your mind about the style or fit preference after the work is completed (e.g., deciding you want a skirt shorter than originally pinned), additional charges will apply. Body Changes: We are not responsible for fit issues resulting from significant weight loss, weight gain, or pregnancy occurring after the initial fitting. 4. Pickup & Storage Please pick up your items promptly. Items not claimed within 90 days of the completion date will be considered abandoned. We reserve the right to donate or dispose of abandoned garments to recoup storage and labor costs. 5. Hygiene & Fabric Condition Cleanliness: For sanitary reasons and to protect our machinery, all garments must be clean/laundered before alteration. We reserve the right to refuse soiled items. Delicate Fabrics: While we exercise the utmost professional care, we are not liable for the natural disintegration of vintage fabrics or aged leather that may occur during the necessary stress of alteration. 6. In-Home Alterations In-home appointments are subject to travel fees and minimum service requirements. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a cancellation fee.
