ABOUT THE COURSE
Their first stitch. Their first finished thing they made themselves.
Youth Fashion Class 102 is a hands-on, intermediate course built specifically for kids and teens who have mastered the basics and are ready to take their garment-making skills to the next level. Over five sessions, students build on their foundational knowledge under Shanti's close guidance—learning more advanced techniques like pattern drafting, achieving the perfect fit, and constructing more complex, wearable garments from start to finish. Completion of our beginner Youth Sewing Class (or equivalent machine sewing experience) is required. Just bring your enthusiasm, a little patience, and a readiness to elevate your fashion design skills!

STUDENT POLICY
What you need to know before enrolling.
01
Registration & Payment
Course fees are non-refundable once the 5-week term begins. Cancellations made at least 7 days prior to the start date are eligible for a full refund. No prerequisites — this course is designed for complete beginners. Students must be between the ages of 10 and 18 at the time of enrollment. If your child is slightly outside this range and you believe they are ready, contact us to discuss before registering.
02
Attendance
Each session introduces a new project phase that builds on the work completed the week before. Missing a session will affect your child's ability to finish all three projects. We cannot offer makeup sessions for missed classes. If your child misses a week, contact the instructor so they can receive brief guidance on what to review or prepare before the next session.
03
Materials & Equipment
All industrial sewing machines are provided by the studio. Families are responsible for supplying fabric for each project and a basic sewing kit — fabric scissors, a measuring tape, straight pins, and a seam ripper. A complete, easy-to-follow materials list is sent upon enrollment. Please bring all materials to the first session washed, ironed, and ready to cut.
04
Studio Safety
Student safety is our highest priority. All children work under Shanti's direct supervision at all times. Industrial machines are powerful tools — students are taught how to use them correctly and safely before any stitching begins. A parent or guardian waiver must be signed prior to the first session. Parents are welcome to stay and observe from the waiting area.
