Sewing 102: Garment Making
Service Description
Ready to move beyond beginner sewing and start creating real garments? This intermediate course is designed for students who have completed Sewing 101 and are ready to take the next step in garment construction. In this class, students will learn how to draft a basic bodice pattern from body measurements, construct skirts, and combine both pieces to create a custom dress with sleeves. Throughout the course, students will develop a deeper understanding of pattern drafting, garment structure, and professional sewing techniques used in dressmaking. This class is perfect for students who want to build confidence making clothing that fits and understand the foundations of garment construction.

Cancellation Policy
Course Policy: Sewing 101 1. Registration & Payment Refunds: Course fees are non-refundable once the 6-week term begins. Cancellations made at least 7 days prior to the start date are eligible for a full refund. 2. Prerequisites Skill Level: This course is designed for complete beginners or anyone wanting to refresh their skills. No prior experience is necessary. Goal: The focus is on building confidence with the machine and mastering essential techniques. 3. Attendance & Projects Curriculum: Over 6 weeks, we will complete three specific projects: a Tote Bag, a Pillowcase, and a Children’s Top/Shorts. Continuity: Because each lesson builds toward these finished projects, consistent attendance is vital. Missed Classes: We cannot offer makeup sessions for missed classes. If you miss a week, please speak with the instructor to see what you can catch up on at home. 4. Materials & Equipment Machines: All students will use industrial sewing machines provided by the studio. You do not need to bring your own machine. Student Supplies: Students are responsible for purchasing their own fabrics and basic tools. Basic Kit: Please bring fabric scissors, a measuring tape, and pins to every class. Practice Fabric: Please bring 4 yards of Muslin fabric (Non-Pre-cut) for learning techniques. Project Fabric: A detailed list of required fabrics for the tote, pillowcase, and clothing projects will be provided so you can prepare accordingly. 5. Safety Industrial Equipment: You will be learning on professional-grade equipment. Students must follow the step-by-step guidance and safety protocols provided by the instructor at all times.
