ABOUT THE COURSE
Stitch your culture into something you will wear for a lifetime.
The Bangla blouse and Chaya skirt are more than garments — they are expressions of identity, craftsmanship, and heritage that have been passed down across generations. In this 8-week workshop, Shanti guides each student through the complete construction of a custom-fit two-piece traditional outfit from scratch, using their own measurements as the foundation. No two students leave with the same garment. What you create here is made for your body, chosen by you, and finished by your own hands.

STUDENT POLICY
What you need to know before enrolling.
01
Registration & Payment
Course fees are non-refundable once the 8-week term begins. Cancellations made at least 7 days prior to the start date are eligible for a full refund. A 2-payment plan ($225 × 2) is available — contact us before enrolling to arrange. Some basic sewing experience is recommended. If you have never sewn before, we suggest completing Sewing 101 first — contact us if you are unsure whether this course is the right fit for your current skill level.
02
Attendance
This course follows a sequential construction arc — each session moves the garment forward from the previous week's work. Missing a session will directly impact your ability to complete both pieces of your outfit. We cannot offer makeup sessions for missed classes. If you miss a week, contact the instructor immediately so you can receive guidance on how to prepare before the next session.
03
Materials & Equipment
All industrial sewing machines are provided by the studio. Students are responsible for sourcing their own fabric and notions. Upon enrollment you will receive a curated fabric guide covering recommended textile types, traditional fabric sources in the New York area, and estimated yardage for both the blouse and the skirt. Bring your fabric and all materials to the first session for instructor review before any cutting begins.
04
Studio Safety
You will be working on professional-grade industrial equipment throughout the course. All students must follow the step-by-step safety guidance provided by the instructor at all times. A standard liability waiver is signed at the first session.
